This is such an exciting learning area. By nature, children are curious: any parent who has to answer the enduring ‘why’ questions would agree. What better way to exploit their curiosity than to allow them to ask even more ‘whys’, and to answer questions themselves.
We have a well-equipped Science laboratory and, despite larger classes, encourage practical exploration, wherever possible. At primary school level, the basics of air, water, electricity, force, magnetism, acids and bases are covered. We try to make these facets (which can be very abstract) as relevant as possible to the children’s experiences.
In Grades 4 – 6, elementary Biology is incorporated into the Science syllabus as well.
Theory is covered in the form of assignments. These are evaluated and tests are written regularly.
The first step to meeting the requirements for participation is the successful completion of the project indicated.
It will be clearly evident that Science is not a regurgitation of facts, but the exploration of our exciting universe.
